Has Ipswich escaped Tier 3? 11:58 - Dec 17 with 3589 viewsSteve_M

Looks like it, this isn't the only list of changes I've seen:

Not entirely sure that's the right decision, no doubt Tom Rhyming Slang was lobbying against it.

People on here never cease to amaze me ,some of you seem disappointed Ipswich is not in tier three, it almost seems as if some of you want the local economy wrecked.

Bloody hell, that’s close call for us, 2 very busy weeks ahead in the only bit of Surrey left in tier 2.
Thousands of pounds difference to our little pub. I imagine January will see a full scale lock down.

But Peterborough borders onto Tier 3 areas to the North in South Kesteven and South Holland

There isn't anywhere within 50 miles of Ipswich which is in Tier 3, so to draw a tiny circle around it and leave Babergh, Mid Suffolk, East Suffolk, West Suffolk, Tendring, Colchester etc as Tier 2 just wouldn't work

The only area singled out like that in the country is Portsmouth, but that is coastal and all the surrounding areas have gone into it.

Ipswich can't be done without bringing Suffolk in with it, because 'Greater Ipswich' is 3 different authorities that would all need to go with it

did you see the map last time, one tiny island of tier 3 in a sea of tier 2 (think it was slough, but i'm not sure)!

As much as anything else, the economy will suffer whilst people are incapacitated or reluctant to go out even when places are open.
