Just addressing this "Evans sells the club" plan 20:31 - Jun 9 with 4025 viewsitfc_bucks

Who do the "Evans out" brigade propose buying the club?

Until they can address that question, their droning on is pointless.

I agree with you and like plenty of others have said the same thing on here repeatedly over the last 5 years or so.

In the event football finances change significantly (which is obviously a long-shot), i.e. and spending caps, wage caps etc are introduced, owning a club like ITFC could become significantly more feasible for lots more people (or groups of people), i.e. you wouldn't have to have hundreds of millions to throw away if they did it right. I'm no fan of consortium ownership but my point is that it wouldn't be difficult to run the club like it used to be run if wages were more realistic.

The real problem with Evans is not the money side of things, it's his very obvious lack of football nouse, complete inability to put together an apprporiate off-field structure and a misguided loyalty to underperforming managers (Hurst not being sacked earlier cost us, and the same will happen with Lambert).

It is not pointless, it is a very handy way of highlighting utter morons that have no concept of reality

Oh yeah we need a new 5 years plan or 5 points plan !

One 5 years plan still exists. Remember that is 5 years that Lambert got from Evans. Care to praise the latter?

I’m open to offers for my house and car but I haven’t actually put them up for sale. It’s a valueless sound bite.

Yes, how silly of me. He should have put a full-page advert in the Saudi Times and the Moscow Express.

I think you’re being a bit silly there. There’s a world of difference being being ‘open to offers’ and actively trying to sell the club.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

I was wondering what the process would be for actively trying to sell the club. I'm quite prepared to accept that such a thing is possible if feasible methods of doing so can be explained to me.

I assume the difference would be Evans coming out and actively saying he’s looking to sell. It all likelihood that would lower the asking price though.

Reminds me a bit of The Simpson’s episode where Burns is trying to buy the nuclear power plant back from a German consortium (to paraphrase) -

Burns: Please give me back my nuclear plant; I’ll do anything.
Consortium member: Well this is a happy coincidence - you are looking to buy and we are looking to sell.
Burns: You are looking to sell? Advantage Burns.

Poll: Who would you play at right centre back on Saturday?

It will be through a world of intermediaries, usually lawyers with the right connections in much the same way as many high profile commercial transactions. Here’s one for starters:

Why not look at it from another angle?

The club is in the hands of an offshore asset stripper of dubious offshore provenance and his stewardship is somewhat embarrassing - even more so when the rest of us will shortly be asked to pay enormous tax rises to pay for the aftermath of recent government incompetence.

The uncertainty of post Covid-19 in 2020 world may well make having a 3rd rate football club an expensive millstone that Marcus Evans no longer wishes to fund - he may even be about to go belly-up - in which case he could and perhaps should pull out.the plug....

What happens then? More or less where Luton and Portsmouth started the long road back. And Town will probably have to follow suit.

Asset stripper? You do understand that he has personally put more money into the club than the combination of every other director in our history?

Thanks for that. Not an area in which I have even the most rudimentary knowledge.
I do think that pointofblue's point of view that immediately this process starts the value of the club will go down is probably valid. However in all the circumstances sooner rather than later may still be a better financial option, even taking that into account.

Of course he doesn't understand that!

When is the last time the fans of a club suggested a new owner? Simply not how business is done.

No worries. The point I was making is that being open to offers is a big step from instructing specialist lawyers or accountants to find a buyer for your club. There’s no sign that he’s done the latter. Not that us mortals would ever be truly in the know if he had.
