Couple further thoughts after last night 11:52 - Apr 20 with 1710 viewsIllinoisblue

Went down the ground this morning to see the old stadium in the sun. The new signage of heroes and legends is great although you still don’t have to look very closely to see some shabbiness and disrepair. North stand roof still full of moss and dirt.

Good to see the Beattie statue has been cleaned up.

Didn’t buy a programme last night so got one today; who shrunk it? Really not a lot in it content wise. Looks like it’s being done on a small budget.

Being a cheap bastard was hoping to see some Adidas training gear being sold off cheap. Nope. All still full price. And not much to choose from either.

Brought the 61-62/91-92 Champions book. Looking forward to that.

You cant really expect much stock to be in at this stage of the season, especially with a new manufacturer soon to be announced.

The club is obviously confident they can still shift items at full price, and there's nothing wrong with that. No doubt they will save the sale for when the new kit is announced.

It might not be the clubs choice on the Adidas gear anyway, I know some kit deals have clauses in the contracts about discounts and not devaluing the makers brand, or they add an extra profit share per item sold that means discounts could cost you more to sell it than if you kept at rrp.

Interesting point about the lack of reductions on the kit and other items in the shop although there was a 10% reduction for s/t holders yesterday. In previous years we had a Black Friday Sale and by this time of the season the kits were drastically cheaper. Not this year! Perhaps the demand is still there or is there a new, more hard headed commercial approach? Certainly I know that some of the retail staff have moved on to other careers.
Regarding the stadium, it's just as well you didn't see it in the dog days of the Marcus Evans era with the peeling paint etc.
Mark Ashton and co. have made a fine start to the refurbishments but as he frequently says there is a great deal still to do.
I too came down today to visit and the Stadium, Waterfront and Christchurch Park were absolutely stunning; a fascinating Constable exhibition in the Mansion. A nice new Honey+Harvey in town too.

Also congratulations to the Borough Council for cleaning up the Kevin Beattie statue.

The club shop is incredibly sparse on stock at the moment, which I guess is just another sign the Adidas deal is coming to an end - but very little up there in the top off it.

The real sale will be at somewhere like Suffolk Show where they just bin off everything from kit room that has Adidas on it for next to nothing

Very impressed with the waterfront. Got bladdered in Isaacs and had a bag of chips on the way home. #perfectday

I was genuinely surprised at the club shop lack of gear. No doubt a combo of supply chain issues and/or adidas deal coming to end. Would have spent a few quid on training gear if there was anything worth having.
