Sneezing, coughing, runny nose for past 4 weeks - eveentually dawned on me that no cold goes on that long (no, it's not #Covid_19! as symptoms pre-date 1st UK case & I've not been abroad!).
Had it in previous Febs, tree pollen I guess, but only symptoms were itchy eyes. |  |

Yep, had a similar experience over the past 3 days of spring-like weather. Came to the same conclusion as you that it might be the start of tree pollen season.
Also not helped by Mrs Azuremerlangus bringing daffodils etc into the house... |  |

I've been struggling for the past few weeks too.
Maybe outside some species of tree are budding up and the like but I'm not sure exactly how that affects things.
Indoor plants have been driving me mad though and I've had to cut all the flowers from a peace lily as they've been chucking out pollen like there's no tomorrow.
Can't stop coughing. |  |

Not here. Pollen doesn’t hang around in 60 mph winds.
I used to suffer badly, but it stopped as soon I moved over here to the west. It doesn’t flare up when I go anywhere else now either. I’m cured! |  |

That's a good question actually - thinking about it, snowdrops would be chief suspect - hundreds of them in the garden, & thousands of them in surrounding verges, fields, woods etc. I'mjust surprised it's a thing considering how wet it's been - you'd think all the pollen would be damped down. But then wind speeds have been exceptional too - most days 20+mph, and 40-50mph very frequently. | |

I suffered for years, I used to stay in with doors and windows closed until about three years ago when I tried Flixonase it was like a miracle it worked so well, I was living in Ireland and bought it in the chemist for 15euro my lady tried to buy it in the UK but was told she needed a prescription but you might not now. |  | | |

I have had what I thought was a cold from the last week and January and it's still here, and like you, the relentless sneezing/coughing and I also have a tight chest and throat. I have never had this before, so not sure if mine is hayfever but I do seem to have some allergy to something or another. I normally start piriton in May and take a pill a day until September but not sure what this is, so am not taking them right now.
I am booked in for an ENT appointment (no idea when yet) but am also terrified of this coronavirus, especially since this utterly stupid government have now decided to not even tell people of new cases and where they are. |  | | |

Happens to me in most mild winters, and always catches me out till I realise it's not a cold but the start of a very long allergy season with no relief in sight (bit like Town's really). | |

Very unlikely to be hay fever as there is no pollen in the air...you could be a marketer's dream and have 'winter allergy'...dues to pets, house dust and a multitude of other things. A lots of winter colds are winter allergies.
On the other hand nobody knows if the first UK case was the first UK case...people could have been writing off a covid infection as a cold ...or allergy for months before anyone started looking. .

There's pollen about all right.
Trees for a start. Things are growing out there, the grass is ridiculously long, bushes are budding up like mad.
It's a bit early, though likely to come crashing back down at some point, at the moment for some of us it's a nightmare. | |

There's plenty of pollen in the air.
But yeah, maybe it's Covo - I'd forgotten about that 4-week cruise I took to China, incorporating a special 3-day tour to Wuhan, followed by a flight home on which we had to divert & stop over in Milan due to storms ...*
*relax folks, haven't been more than 15 miles from home in North Yorks (and nowhere near the city of York) for 3 months. Before that just a couple of days in Leeds! 
Jeera - looked for anti-hist in chemists - only ones they had either included lactose (a big no-no for me) or were liquids with artificial sweeteners for kids, so I haven't bothered. | |
