In any event, would it not be that Newport would be promoted instead?
Was it Swindon that beat Sunderland to go up in the early 90's but then were refused promotion so it went to the play off runner up instead?
Plymouth were relegated. They should stay down. So were Notts County.
If anything it should be Newport that go up instead of Bury so that four teams still go up and then (as two have already come up from the Conference in Leyton Orient and Salford) Notts County would get a reprieve.
I thought the precedent was to ensure that the same number of teams up or teams down applied first, then teams got reprieves?

The latest news I've seen is that they are due back in court on 19th June to face a winding-up petition over an unpaid tax-bill. The owner is still hopeful of a buyer for the club.

Not sure. Plymouth or Newport is ok with me, both just under 2 hours from me.
