As of today, no!
Obviously a lot depends on what incoming transfer business we do but given the noises coming out of PR on that front I’m not holding my breath.

Bit of a lottery on many counts - including whether the season will finish if covid continues to prosper . BUT the club has come to terms with a very weak division, Covid has destroyed the finances of many in this division and things can only get worse for them.... and all this means Town should do better than last season...so why not? |  |

I start every season with great optimism about how we are going to do.
So I can not change a habit of a lifetime.
If only PL formulates a team and style of play and sticks broadly to that, we have a great chance of being top 4 at least. After that confidence and the winning habit will see us home.
If he tinkers and chops and changes like last season, then no chance.
A good start would be for him to announce Holy is the number 1 keeper and we are happy with the other 2 already here as back up. | | | |

Put it this way, the club has undertaken a thorough review of what went wrong last season and still seem to believe it was down to a 'couple of bad months'.
Lambert won't change, the club has no structure or plan and League One is our new home.

Yes, as others have said we are in a better financial place than most in this league and we do have some talent coming through that is better than what was on show for most of last season. However will that talent get a chance or will we see the same old tired formulae that failed to create anything last season.

I think we will despite PL.
We have a great crop of young players - I will be astonished if we don't get top two. |
Of all the recent seasons, failing to get promoted next season would undoubtedly be the most embarrassing chapter.
Our squad is still largely a strong one (for this level at least). For all of the negativity surrounding Evans, we are also in a far stronger and more stable financial position than the vast majority of other clubs at this level throughout this pandemic. Whilst other clubs will be cutting playing numbers/ getting weaker and concerned how they can survive without crowds, we have tied several players to new contracts and are looking to strengthen our squad. We also have the benefit of a far better academy set up than pretty much most at this level. That is a huge advantage in our favour.
The big problem will be about how many lessons are genuinely learned from last season. The continuous squad/ system rotations clearly ruined and killed our monentum last season and made us into a very poor incohesive, and confused team.
Norwood struggled with fitness for most of last season, I get the feeling we'll see an improved version of him next year.
Recruitment wise, we need some experienced heads who are leaders and are heard. Too many games drifted away from us last year when things weren't going well, it can't just be down to Chambers to rally them, good teams at any level have multiple leaders. [Post edited 31 Jul 2020 10:02]

On the plus side, the likes of Downes and Woolfenden are a year older and we should be expecting them to flourish further and really look the part this season. | |

I think that several would have got us promoted with the squad that Lambert should have got us promoted with.

There are obviously not questions over Lambert's judgement last season but he isn't a complete idiot, his managerial record isn't just due to a couple of good seasons at Norwich. Some perspective would be nice. |
Your reasons to be hopeful have yet to materialise in two seasons here though. Perspective means considering two side of the coin, but, so far, we've only seen one. Those that are posting positively have also more than once added that it's a hope rather than an expectation.
The sum of the opinions is negative to be sure, but that's down to one-by-one agreement on what we've witnessed so far. | |

We were running away with it until Lambert tried to be too clever.
A lot will depend on our luck with injuries. If Sears gets fully fit I think he'll be lethal in this division. |  |

If you're being generous you can also argue that we didn't get lucky at all with injuries. We let Emmanuel leave, then a few weeks later KVY is crooked, which scuppered us and left us completely imbalanced. Our exciting big pre-season bet in Norwood struggled for fitness for large periods. Bishop (surprise) spent a long time on the sidelines, Judge missed all of pre season and the start of the season, and Huws looked rusty after so long out. Sears spent pretty much the whole season injured, as did Nydam, as did Lankester. Nolan had setbacks too.
Personally I think Lambert rightly comes in for criticism, given the squad he had at his disposal finishing 11th was failure, I think most would agree. We are where we are now though, so we might as well suck it up and get behind the team. If anything the general lethargy gives too easy an out to this squad. I think they need a healthy level of expectation and they need to know that as a supporter base the expectation is promotion, and anything less is failure once again. |  |
