I watched the first episode of the wire and couldn't understand a bloody thing.
I also then decided to use subtitles but haven't got round to it, I think I'm destined not to ever see it. |  |

When I was a wealthy man I thought I could semi retire and in-between going to the pub I watched every Frasier episode back to back (263 of them).
It was quite an enjoyable time. | |

The Wire is absolutely brilliant - don’t disagree that it is challenging to understand what is said on occasions, and Mrs E2S cannot put up with the profanity, but I watched it on a series of international flights and thought it was amazing

The Wire was amazing when if first came out. It has dated though. If you watch it now it is like watching a period drama.

You cannot go wrong with either. They are 2 of the best TV shows ever produced... if not THE 2 best TV shows ever produced.
If I were forced to rank them, I would put The Sopranos at No. 1. Whilst the Wire hits higher heights than the Sopranos (arguable, this is my opinion), it never has a duff Season. The final season of the Wire can easily be skipped. It is a caricature of its former self with all the gritty realism jettisoned for a frankly absurd plotline. |  |
