Ignore them, they have no practical experience of what they preach. I spent 8 weeks in rehab, not a pleasant experience. Cocaine addicts, marijuana addicts, yes it’s very addictive, heroine addicts, crack addicts, prescription drug addicts, sex addicts, food addicts, every conceivable form of addiction, And several suicides.
But hey, the usual suspects know better, or as usual, they think they do.
Thank you. I’m afraid what will happen now is you will be bombarded by slime and abuse from certain of TWTD who believe they have every right to continue in their venal stupidity. They hate all arguments against what they do for fun and recreation because fundamentally they know of course you and I are right. Good luck in your journey of recovery.
Edit; in fact I can see it’s already started from looking at your comments! That’s the price you pay for sticking your head over the parapet I’m afraid. If you do agree with me in future perhaps you’ll prefer to PM me as many already do - saves all the abuse.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

A bellend? Insight? point scoring? You don't have a damned clue about addiction. What insight have you offered? You crossed from one addiction to another, ha!
You show your ignorance on the subject by highlighting food, sex and prescription drugs. The reason that foodies find it so hard to deal with their addiction is that everyone has to eat, duh!
Prescription drugs. When I was in treatment, one girl was admitted to hospital for taking 100 laxatives per day, she thought she was overweight.
Sex addiction is equally destructive in marriages etc. Trust me, I speak from experience.
I'm not interested in debating why you think you are special and different, trust me, you are not.
Point of order, you brought in those other addictions into the discussion.

Thanks. I suspect like you, I don't care about the abuse. If one person is helped, then it's all worth it. In any case I learnt in AA and NA, and coda, and all the other addiction meetings, you can only help those that recognise they have a problem. The others have to find out for themselves. Experience is hard won. It's not great to go to meetings every day. Sometimes more than one in order to stay sober and clean.
By staying clean ans sober, we all stand a chance. Addiction is a mental illness that affects many people. There is no known cure other than surrender and hard work.

Well I do understand addiction, seeing as I poster a fairly detailed and open recount of my booze issues in this thread. Not the first time either. I’m not the one who bombarded in to claim all those who disagree with Chico don’t have a clue afterall, that was you. It seems you’ve now got the ar5e that statement turned out to be wrong.
I offered a lot more insight than yourself, read the thread. Address the points made. Discuss them. The fact you want to claim I’m replacing addictions shows you haven’t actually read what I posted. The occasional addition of “ha” to your posts is largely tasteless and comes across as low brow. Is the topic funny to you?
You raised food, sex and prescription drug issues, not me. I asked what your point was. Rather than actually reply and clarify you’re now claiming I’ve unfairly pulled that comment from no where. YOU raised it. Not ME. So would you like to clarify how these addictions are relevant to a nanny state or what should/shouldn’t be criminal?
I never said I’m special or different. That would be projection on your behalf.

To continue claiming you are correct whilst being proven wrong over and over isn’t the same as being correct.
You get abuse because this is a continual cycle that people are largely fed up of.
SNORTERS! coke aint woke on 09:55 - Dec 15 by Zapers
What is your point? You think they are any less serious?
No one said that. Stop making things up.
The point was are you pro criminalisation of these things in the same way you are drugs? If you actually bothered to face this point you’d see the glaring hole in your argument though, so it’s clear why you continually seem to swerve it.

Wait what?!
Moose is trying to dig me out - he does this a lot, it's his sort of thing. It will all come out in the wash.
Let me tell you what happened to straighten things up. I posted a pic of a load of stickers I bought from Blue Action that I was planning to destroy Norwich with and I had spread them over my desk. On the desk was also a beaker of red wine and because it wasn't a wine glass Sitters thought it was coke and mentioned that he didn't expect to see coke on my desk. Because I had already downed a couple of beakers I thought it would be the funniest thing in the world to wrap a load of ant killer into a plastic wrap and say, "That's not coke, this is coke"
As it happens after about 5 mins I got the feeling it might not be appropriate so I deleted the picture. I had also put a derogatory message on my iMac about Artsbossbeard so everyone could see it - for which I got a yellow card from Herr Ham as someone reported it as abuse. Herr Ham didn't mention the pretend coke ball as it was obviously a wind up - a spoof picture. I think this is where Cold War Steve got his inspiration.
This dates back to July 2021 - Moose has obviously compiled a folder on me.

Amongst other addictions, yes
So, in the context of the discussion, would you be an advocate for banning of all pornography for all people, and only allow people to engage in sex for its proper biological purpose, e.g. procreation in a marriage?

Contrarian addiction.....
You are the obsolete SRN4 to my Fairey Rotodyne....
I'd be worried that it would be more prevalent in the 11-16 age category if it was legalised. Rather than having kids pissed on cheap cider down the park, you'd have an inevitable increase in cokeheads. But then that opens up the alcohol accessibility debate too...

I don’t make mistakes. All the drugs you mentioned are terrible things that wreck lives all over the world. And If you buy them you are funding the lifestyles of some of the worst people in history
Picking magic mushrooms funds some of the worst people in history?
For a bright bloke you haven't half got a blind spot on this one.
Oh and yeh coke is a filthy drug, I agree, and I'm not proud of my past use. Completely different to lsd, mdma and a whole host of drugs that could benefit society if the Man wanted people to open their minds. But the Man doesn't want that does he. There's a good reason booze is not only legal but generally encouraged. Coke is a totem of capitalism even though it's illegal.

Listen to David Nutt -
It isn't straightforward though is it Dyland.
I used to do a fair but of LSD and MDMA back in the day but haven't for a few years, I don't think I could take it now. My brain has rewired itself and I worry about things more than I used to, I would worry so much that I would have a bad trip that I would undoubtably have a bad trip. Same as weed, I was never a big smoker of it but every now and again - these days I know it would make me fret. Relatively recently in a Coffee Shop I lost about 3 hours of my life, I couldn't shake it off, it was a proper downer.
Also, and I am sure people will disagree, but of the people I know, more of them have had mental problems after excessive weed use - one of them ended up in Rampton. As for Coke, well, if I were to speak as I find then it just makes me talk more sh1t than I would normally.
Kids are forced to work long hours at $1 a day processing Coffee and Coco powder.
At what point does it all end?

Completely agree with you. Weed e.g. is so much stronger these days, it's quite difficult to find chilled thai stick or good old fashioned hash, it's all hydroponic skunk innit. Like you I hardly ever smoke it, maybe once a year if someone skins up during a jam or whatever.
I had a pretty rotten LSD experience just before Easter, it was too strong. And I took it on my own whilst looking after some cats in my old stomping ground in north London. I ended up trying to have a conversation with some elderly dog walkers on Hampstead Heath but literally lost the power of speech. And then it took me like half an hour to work out how to get back inside the house. Interestingly, though it was a coming up rush for eight hours straight, I slept like a baby and felt amazing the next day. For me, the rewiring is a good thing :)
But aye, everyone experiences these things in different ways. I had some amazing liquid psilocybin that was made from these bods who grew the mushrooms and made a tincture. Totally illegal but no harm down the production or supply chain. I stopped buying it though cos they started knocking out coke... and to Chicker's point there is enormous damage caused in that supply chain.
MDMA and other psychotropic substances are good for you, it's a matter of dose :) But as with coke, the production and supply of pills is part of a harmful business. It's a crime against humanity that these things are illegal, imho. Listen to the Nutt interview, it's really good.
