Evans is a businessman, in what other line of business is it acceptable to come in to a promising company and then let it slide to its lowest ebb for over 30 years with little idea or strategy to recover its position ? Quite frankly, he would have been hounded out by Pension funds and shareholders.

The club wasn’t in a good state when he bought it though was it?

That’s the point. It had just come out of administration but was really struggling and needed money that Evans offered.

Your example of a company doesn’t really work because Evans is the majority shareholder. Even if it was different, any director who was willing to subsidise the company’s losses from his own pocket every year without question would not be hounded out would he?

Evans did what he could - he made a lot of money available to a succession of managers but then the recession hit his businesses and he also realised he couldn’t compete once the new sky package was agreed. He’s been on a limitation of loss strategy since. The fans wanted MM out not Evans and then look what happened.

Sheepshanks presided over the club almost going out of existence, the results of which we are still feeling.

And what do you say Evans should be doing?

Evans appointed a succession of bad managers.

He has appointed a succession of woeful chief execs (or whatever Clegg and Milne were).

He has provided money but absolutely no fcking clue, no direction, and not brought people into club who could have provided it.

Throw into the mix that the one time in his ownership that we were in a strong position, at the end of 2014-15, he didn’t back McCarthy with finance that could have seen us push on from 6th place.

So Sheepshanks, under whom we reached the premier league, had 2 seasons in UEFA cup, played cracking football and ended up £30m in debt was bad.

Yet Evans, under whom we have been a disaster, got relegated to division 3, have had a succession of comedy managers, played increasingly bad football, lost all touch with the local community, and are now £100m in the red is seemingly beyond real criticism?
