Really good piece on Cantona, that kick and the reaction 07:55 - Jan 25 with 1036 viewsSteve_M

Smyth does perhaps gloss over the fact that Ferguson’s United teams could look after themselves in the pitch, sometimes nastily. The points about how much worse the reaction would be now is interesting, can’t help feeling that if a few more racists had been dealt with summarily then the country might be a better place now.

Your point being that some words are more serious than a violent physical attack that though routine on a football pitch is a sacred barrier in football?

Cantona is an icon, had character and what he done for the English game can’t be underestimated.

That was a bad moment but in some ways I respect his actions of not giving a dam and giving a supporter some back.

I loved that kick. There was this guy - the big man, giving it everything and as soon as Cantona flew over that barrier he sh1t himself and backed off. I expect he has a laptop now and does the same from the safety of his bedroom.

Nah, he's too busy tending the World's Largest Village Green and driving a taxi to do that..

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.
