Mark Ashton 13:37 - Apr 7 with 6519 views | chrismakin | For those not sure of him or what BC fans thin of him. I came across the below. Certainly interesting. Lots of things weve had as issues here. But also things that the new owners would be very keen on... I.E profit on players. Would be interesting regarding recruitment.. cook has hated not being involved on recruitment. But recently said hed sit on the fence on this... https://thesportsdespatch.com/the-problem-for-bristol-city-is-mark-ashton It has to be said tho. Everyone needs a scapegoat.. so is he as bad as they make out? If he was. Would he still be in the job this long...

Mark Ashton on 15:56 - Apr 7 by PhilTWTD | His plans with Marcus as far as I can tell. I genuinely don't think he was in the loop regarding the progress of the takeover. |
Would you appoint a new manager 30 days away from selling a club? Lol sorry to keep on - just can't see how he would have been aware of intentions. Also, nothing Marcus would offer would be worth highlighting so vividly for fan excitement.

He'd not made the decision at that point, I assume. Clearly the discussion had been ongoing for a long time and I agree, seems strange to make an appointment so close to potentially selling, although he was obviously desperate to get rid of Paul Lambert and put someone else in by the point of the change.

Mark Ashton on 15:54 - Apr 7 by PhilTWTD | Worth pointing out that LON isn't the CEO here, he's only meant to be covering the football side of things, hence general manager of football operations, but had to cover other stuff as well, so won't be a like-for-like replacement as such. I'm guessing that Lee's role will change, however, if he remains here. |
Roof cleaning and turnstile painting sounds a likely job offer?

Mark Ashton on 16:59 - Apr 7 with 1139 views | vanmunt | As a Bristol resident I can confirm he is detested among city fans, I have had a few messages of joy he might be on his way to us. Who knows, there are many things wrong at Bristol City at the moment and Ashton is top of the scapegoat list. [Post edited 7 Apr 2021 17:01]

Pearson was my choice cant see it happening though. FWIW I think Cook will do well here. He just has to clean the sh1t from the yard before next season.

Seriously - I really struggle with this information, to the point where I just can’t believe it

O'Leary: We talked to Marcus about it, he wanted to make a change and we compared notes and found he was number one on both our lists. We rate Paul very highly. There won't be a change of manager here.
Mark Ashton on 07:52 - Apr 8 with 973 views | chrismakin | Must admit, overnight, been looking into this a bit more, must say, I can see why he's not a very well liked CEO https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/3995357.oliver-phillips-reflects-on-the- it's a tough one, on one hand he was named Champhionship CEO 2019, but on the other, there's quite a lot of negativity from current and old clubs/relationships. I think for our club, it needs to be Johnson former Wigan, [Post edited 8 Apr 2021 8:25]

Well, it was essentially confirmed by Mike O'Leary at the presser, Paul being concerned about his position post-takeover, there not having been any previous contact etc.

I think Town need to get a CEO in place pronto . We shouldn't really be hanging around with this one and id be amazed if GC's don't already know who they want for the role . I also think They'd be daft to dispense with Paul Cook. In fact I feel sure he was targeted as the man to take us forward by them.

Very much parallel with our views on Cook, supporters can clearly see the players are neither good enough or up for it regardless of who is in charge. The big take from the current city situation is owner has more interest in the Bristol bears rugby club currently top of the premier, even to the point the wording city has been removed from the seats in stand.

They almost certainly have one lined up, just a matter of getting the deal done i would've thought.
